Peptide Therapies
What Are Peptides?
Peptides are short chain amino acids which act as a signal to the cell. Peptides can not only improve your body composition and slow the aging process, but they can also help with the immune system, fight cancer cells, improve skin health, and so much more. There are a variety of peptide therapies available to support health and healing.
Who Can Benefit From Peptide Therapy?
There are a wide variety of peptides available. Conditions which may benefit from peptides range from:
- Chronic pain and inflammation
- Neuro-cognition
- Autoimmune disease
- Body composition
- Weight gain
- Longevity
- Sleep
How Are Peptides Administered?
Most are given through daily injections that the patient can give themselves. Some are oral or nasal sprays.
What Are Some Common Peptides?
BPC-157
BPC 15 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a 15 amino acid peptide fragment. It has been shown to enhance healing and recovery of injuries to muscles and tendons and helps support healing from burns as well. It may prevent mast cell activation better than antihistamines and additionally support mitochondria and has beneficial gut healing properties for IBS and ulcers.
DSIP
Delta Sleep Inducing Peptide is a 9 amino acid peptide fragment that has been shown to promote sleep, induce natural delta EEG sleep waves, supports balancing circadian rhythms via serotonin and melatonin stimulation, support stress. It has also been shown to help with opioid withdrawal and chronic pain.
Semax
Semax is known as the neuroprotective peptide. It can increase attention and short-term memory, improves neuroplasticity, accelerates recovery from traumatic brain injuries and strokes. It has been helpful in the treatment of anxiety, memory issues, strokes, ADHD, and chronic neurodegenerative diseases (such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease)
Selank
Selank is a 7 amino acid peptide that helps with balancing cognitive function and emotional transmitters such as dopamine and serotonin. Selank helps calm the nervous system. It helps to reduce anxiety, supports short term memory, can reduce stress, increases BDNF (important for learning and memory) and additionally supports the immune system. It is useful in the treatment of several diseases including depression, cognitive decline, generalized anxiety disorder.
AOD
Advanced Obesity Drug (AOD) 9604, has been found to regulate the body’s metabolism, while also stimulating the natural fat-burning process. It helps with weight loss, reducing body fat, optimizing body composition and boosting your metabolism. The specific peptide does not affect your appetite or blood sugar like other weight loss peptides.
KPV
KPV is the shorter segment of the injectable peptide Melanotan II. These are very specific for immune regulation. Both of these peptides can be used for reducing histamine production by stabilizing mast cells and supporting. KPV is used as an oral spray and specifically helps to balance cytokine inflammation, stabilize mast cells, and has antimicrobial effects.
Thymosin Alpha 1
Thymosin alpha 1 is a peptide naturally occurring in the thymus. It has long been recognized for modifying, enhancing, and restoring immune function. Thymosin alpha 1 has been shown to accelerate T cell maturation and balance cytokine driven immune responses. Due to its properties of optimizing immune support, it has been found helpful in the treatment of environmental toxicities (example, mold), chronic infections, arthritis, inflammation, reducing chronic fatigue, and in several studies, has been shown to process anti-cancer properties.
